Top 50 Indie Sewell Retail has joined the British Oil Security Syndicate’s (BOSS’s) Payment Watch scheme.

All 12 of the company’s sites are now part of the ‘no means of payment’ debt recovery scheme.

Kevin Eastwood, executive director at BOSS, commented: “We’re very pleased to have the opportunity to extend the support offered by our Payment Watch scheme to Sewell Retail’s forecourt sites. BOSS Payment Watch not only helps to protect independent fuel retailers’ businesses financially, but is leading the way in identifying multiple offences and supporting the police in pursuing persistent offenders.”

David Craven-Jones, operations director at Sewell Retail, said: “After trialling Payment Watch at five sites, we’ve been impressed with the effectiveness of the scheme and have decided to adopt it at all 12 of our locations. Payment Watch has significantly cut our ‘no means of payment’ losses – in many cases the detailed documentation drivers have to sign is enough of a deterrent to encourage them to find a way to pay before they leave. If we do need to pursue a debt, the reporting process is simple and the recovery rate is good. Payment Watch offers real benefits to independent fuel retailers and I’d certainly recommend it.”
