The first purpose-built lorry park on the A63 Westbound, at Hull, has been opened by Sewell on the go, which is ranked 23rd in Forecourt Trader’s Top 50 Indies.
The £250,000 development located at the Hull West A63 Westbound branch, which has 14 designated bays for HGVs, follows a £1m redevelopment of the service station in 2013. The company has also just begun a major refurbishment of its Maybury fuel and convenience store in East Hull.
Key modifications include improved drainage, motorway grade barrier kerbs and resurfacing, as well as shower facilities for those wishing to park up and freshen up.
Patrick Sewell, managing director of Sewell on the go, said: “Since the redevelopment a couple of years ago the Hull West store has been really successful with increased commercial trade. We’ve found that a lot of customers are staying with us for longer periods, either having already, or waiting to visit the local docks.
“Lorry drivers use the washroom facilities, wifi and to grab a hot meal before their journey ahead; a purpose-built lorry park was the obvious final piece of the jigsaw.”
The development of the lorry park has been welcomed by customers. Barry Wilson from Liverpool regularly stops at the service station. He said: “I have always tended to stop off at Sewell on the go before heading back over the Pennines, it’s a pleasant store and the staff are really friendly.
“It’s much easier to park up and grab everything I need now. There’s a lot more space for the trucks.”
Hull West is one of 12 fuel and convenience stores operated by Sewell on the go in Hull and East Yorkshire. All stores provide free ATMs, Costa coffee, local produce and free wifi.
