A car wash in Nottingham has been ordered to shut down after it was the scene of a brawl last week.

A total of 17 people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the disturbance at the car wash on Thursday 9 April, and have been bailed until July, pending further enquiries.

Following the incident Nottingham City Council has secured a three-month closure order for the site of the disorder, the Auto Clean car wash in Canal Street.

The order, granted by magistrates on Saturday, has been obtained under the Antisocial Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014. It prohibits anyone from accessing the site. Anyone who contravenes the order risks a six-month prison sentence, a fine or both.

Nottinghamshire Police said the motive for the disorder remains unclear.
