Police have arrested two men in connection with an armed robbery at a filling station near Cambridge.

The robbery happened at Worsted Filling Station off the A11 at Babraham, south of Cambridge, at 1.20am on January 25.

The shop area was locked but the station was open to sell fuel and two men got in through a sky-light and tried to take cash from the till.

A lone male member of staff, who on his first unsupervised shift, was attacked and hit with broken snooker cues on the head and shoulders.

He was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital and received treatment for a large cut to his head and cuts on his face and hands.

The men, a 33-year-old from Papworth Everard, and a 32-year-old from Great Shelford, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and are being questioned at Parkside Police Station in Cambridge.
