Fairbanks will be launching an innovative ‘plant a tree’ project at APEA Live 2012’s awards dinner, which the wetstock monitoring company is sponsoring next week.
As part of the evening entertainment, Fairbanks will donate up to 200 tree saplings to guests in a bid to help them off-set their carbon footprint by taking one away to plant at home or within their local community.
Fairbanks then plans to expand the project further by collecting any remaining trees from the night to present to local schools and colleges within the Lancashire region. They do this with the vision to help inspire local children to take a more active interest in looking after their environment.
Fairbanks staff from the surrounding area will help out with the initial planting of the saplings and will continue to visit and work with the children to track the trees’ progress as part of their work within the local community to raise awareness of the impact of our carbon footprint.
Michelle King, operations director at Fairbanks, said: “We have always believed it is very important to give something back to the community, especially as so many of our staff are from the local area. The plant a tree project is just a small part of a bigger aim, with many more projects to follow. However, we feel that targeting the issue locally to start with is a great place to begin.”
APEA Live combines an exhibition, conference and awards dinner at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on November 8.
