Petrol Retailers’ Association (PRA) chairman Brian Madderson and the TaxPayers’ Alliance (TPA) campaign manager Matt Sinclair have been hailed ‘Campaigners of the Week’ by PetrolPromise.com, the independent campaign for cheaper petrol and diesel.

PetrolPromise.com, founded by Robert Halfon MP, has praised the TPA and PRA’s launch of ‘fuel tax stands’ showing the true cost of tax on fuel and the FreezeFuelTax.com petition, which calls on the government not to increase fuel tax any further.

The campaign, which is being supported by The Sun newspaper, has seen posters distributed to 5,000 independent forecourts across the UK. The campaign materials show that 60% of the fuel pump price is tax.

PetrolPromise.com stated: “We welcome this. It is long overdue and it will be a brake on fuel-duty rises - making it much harder for any government to hike pump prices. Well done Matt and Brian! They are this week’s campaign heroes.
