Support for FairFuelUK

Twenty thousand supporters of the FairFuelUK campaign have joined in the call for two major investigations into the price of petrol and diesel as pump rises have started to rise again. The calls have come after a renewed surge in pump rises and continued concern that oil traders may have been unfairly rigging the market as the banks have done with LIBOR.

Greenpeace protest

Fifty three Shell petrol stations in London and Edinburgh were last month targeted by Greenpeace in a protest against the company’s plans to drill for oil in the Arctic.

Protesters plans included switching off fuel pumps, covering Shell signs with a Save the Arctic banner; positioning life-sized polar bear models on the canopy; as well as chaining up pumps with bicycle padlocks.

Moto extends BP deal

BP and Moto are to continue their longstanding partnership after agreeing an extension to their existing branded fuel supply deal. The agreement will see BP supply 42 of Moto’s owned and operated locations. All the sites will be located on key motorway or major transient routes making filling up more convenient for both retail and commercial consumers. BP has supplies Moto’s dealer-owned and operated locations with fuel since 1997.

Peregrine expansion

Dorset-based Peregrine Retail has completed on the purchase of a third site Blackhorse Garage, just off Bristol ring road. The forecourt’s current fuel volume is 7mlpa, with shop turnover standing at £30,000 a week, but Peregrine is planning an immediate minor refit while a planning application is submitted for a larger redevelopment to extend the shop from 900sq ft to almost 3,000sq ft.
