A petrol station that has been closed for 10 years in Kent is to be given a new lease of life next month.

The A2-based site in Whitfield, Dover will become home to a brand-new Esso/Spar forecourt, offering a complete 24-hour convenience service including 12 fuel pumps, free ATM, hot food-to-go, Costa coffee and a wide range of fresh foods. It will also operate a 24-hour alcohol licence.

The 1,600sq ft store will be opening on Monday July 16 in time to see the Olympic torch pass by on Wednesday July 18. To celebrate the store’s launch, a fun day will take place on Saturday July 21. The day will feature plenty of fun activities including tastings, a raffle, and food and fuel giveaways. There will also be some other very special prizes up for grabs from the Ramada Hotel Dover.

Site owner Mr Rajaseelan, who also owns the local Ramada Hotel, said: “I’m so excited about the opening of this new store. It’s a fantastic opportunity to inject life into a prime site that has been closed for so long. We hope to become a well-known local community shop while also serving transient trade from the nearby, busy A2.”
