Two thieves have used a cloned fuel card to fill up with almost £1,000 worth of petrol at forecourts across Coventry.

The two suspects – caught on CCTV released by Coventry Police – struck 16 times in just five days using a duplicate of a fuel card which officers have traced to a haulage company.

All the transactions were carried out between January 6-10 at BP stations in Stonebridge Highway and Willenhall, plus Tesco at the Ricoh Arena and in Walsgrave.

The suspects – believed to be either Asian or eastern European – are understood to have used different vehicles on false number plates and also stocked up with bottles of oil in addition to petrol.

One man is described as in his 20s, around 5ft 8ins tall, medium build with short dark hair, which is longer on top, and a beard. His accomplice is said to be younger, aged between 18 and 25-years-old, around the same height but of a slimmer build. He also has a beard and short dark hair.

Anyone who has information about the thefts is asked to contact PC Chow Chan at Willenhall Police Station on 0345 113 5000 (ext 7934 6099).
