Top 50 Indie, MRH, is having to relocate one of its forecourts in the West Midlands because Sainsbury is extending one of its stores.

The situation has come about because MRH leases the Texaco-branded site at the Bromsgrove Retail Park, but Sainsbury bought the freehold and has been given planning permission to extend its nearby store.

However, MRH has managed to lease an old car dealership 200 yards away and is applying for planning permission. The company’s property manager, Fraser Duffin, told Forecourt Trader that, planning consent permitting, they were hoping to open the new site next April. In the meantime the current forecourt will carry on trading and will not close until the new site forecourt opens. Leaflets being distributed in the store explain the situation to customers.

Duffin said the forecourt would be better and more modern than the existing one. It is expected to have a sizeable convenience store, car wash and jet wash.
