A Jet petrol station on Dudley Road in Winston Green, Birmingham has become a crime scene following the death of three men after they were hit by a car in the early hours of this morning.

The forecourt, which had been attacked by looters the previous night, will remain closed while a murder investigation is carried out.

The incident happened in front of the Jet-branded site at around 1.15am. The men were taken to City Hospital in Birmingham where two of the men were confirmed dead shortly after arrival. The death of the third man was confirmed around 6.30am.

The three men were thought to be protecting local businesses, including the Jet site, following unrest on Monday night.

A spokesperson for ConocoPhillips said: “We have offered support to the retailer and if we can help we will. The site is closed until the Police say it can reopen. The retailer’s top priority is to make sure everyone is safe.”
