Van drivers travel further than any other drivers to get cheaper fuel. So says a new survey from insurers Swinton Commercial.

The company quizzed 1,200 online customers and found that 45% of van drivers would drive to a forecourt for a cheaper deal even if it was not the closest one to them, compared to 31% of car drivers and 27% of motorcyclists.

The survey also found that 32% of van drivers go online to compare fuel prices and 38% make a mental note of prices when they drive past garages. A further 10% of van drivers go to the cheapest supermarket for fuel where they can claim loyalty points too.
