Asda and Sainsbury’s have entered round two of the supermarket fuel price war, cutting the cost at the pumps from
today. Asda said it was dropping the price of a litre of unleaded petrol to a maximum of 113.9p, and diesel to no more than 116.9p. Sainsbury’s followed suit, saying it was slashing its pump prices by "up to 2p to ensure we continue to be competitively priced locally".
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: "We review our petrol and diesel prices regularly to ensure we always provide customers with great value... In addition, this weekend we are running a triple Nectar point promotion, offering customers three points per litre instead of the usual one."
The price drops followed similar cuts last week when Adsa, Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsbury’s all cut fuel prices.
