RMI Petrol’s campaign to step up pressure on the government over Business Rates is gathering support from MPs. A total of 41 MPs have now signed the Early Day Motion

(EDM), tabled by Conservative MP Philip Dunne, which calls for the government to postpone the business rates revaluation for petrol stations.

This is an increase of 13 MPs since the start of February.

RMI Petrol chairman Brian Madderson has been leading the charge against the methodology used by the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) in its recent revaluations after retailers expressed concerns over ’unreasonable’ hikes in the new rates. He has been urging retailers to contact their MPs in a bid increase the signatures on the EDM and increase pressure on the government before the new rates are introduced in April.
