== New text lube service ==

Chevron Global Lubricants has launched a service for motorists who are unsure of which top-up oil to use in their car. The customer sends a text to a number displayed in the shop, with the word ’oil’ and their registration number, and seconds later they receive a text with the correct Havoline oil type. Chevron, which owns the Havoline brand, said customers would also be sent a ’get me home’ choice of oil for emergency use in case the best oil for the vehicle was not immediately available.

== New BOSS scheme ==

The British Oil Security Syndicate (BOSS) has joined forces with Strathclyde Police to launch Forecourt Watch in Glasgow South West. The scheme, which creates closer links between police, BOSS and retailers to increase awareness, prevention and the reporting and recording of drive-offs and no means of payment for fuel, is being rolled out to 14 sites. It joins the 70 other schemes already operating in the UK. Superintendent Kevin Duffy said there were 100 reported thefts of petrol from 14 sites in the area in the first five months of 2009.
