Zurich has published a tax guide for small business owners. Its 2008/9 Tax Handbook includes advice on how to finance a business effectively as well as guidance on Capital Gains tax, deducting tax at source and an outline of VAT.

Zurich says it is aimed at professionals working in the food and hospitality industry as well as anyone running a small business or who is self-employed. It says the book is written by leading industry tax experts and provides a comprehensive understanding of the UK tax landscape and the latest changes following the Finance Act.

There are also tips on how to avoid making costly mistakes.

Published in conjunction with Pearson Education, the guide also provides information on self assessment and wealth planning, as well as offering guidance on how to help mitigate and reduce any potential inheritance tax liability.

Paul Wright, Zurich’s investment management director, says: "Taxation is a complex area and one which people often fail to address in sufficient detail. Our handbook provides readers with a better understanding of the tax system and will help them to manage their tax affairs more efficiently."

Those who buy the book can access the latest updates online and receive email updates of any tax changes that are announced between budgets. Priced at £34.99, including P&P, copies can be ordered at [http://www.pearson-books.com/Zurichpr]
