Career history: I bought my first (tiny) newsagents in 2001 and turned it into a c-store, buying the store next door to expand the business. I then bought Ardeer in 2005 as a completely run-down business, but over the years have transformed it into a state-of-the-art 18-nozzle Jet forecourt and double-storey Nisa store.

Tips for business success: Never give up hard work always pays off.

Best business advice you've received: Not direct advice as such, but Richard Branson once said "Take care of your employees and they'll take care of your business". I couldn't agree more!

Best thing about your job: Being supported by fantastic staff and very loyal customers. I'm very fortunate that my staff are just as passionate as I am about Ardeer's success.

Most recent business achievement/s of note: Winning the 'Scotland up to 4mlpa' category in this year's Forecourt Trader of the Year Awards.

Three words to describe yourself: Persistent, innovative and quick-thinking.

When a major car manufacturer like Ford predicts that sales of its electrified cars will outnumber petrol and diesel models by 2022, does that ring alarm bells about the possible speed of change for forecourts?
