Forecourt Trader of the Year 2005, Susie Hawkins, will open IFFE 2006 at the NEC, Birmingham on Sunday, March 19. She will then hot-foot it along to the show’s Forecourt Live! area to deliver an inspirational talk. She certainly should be an inspiration to petrol retailers, as she won the award aged just 28, which made her one of Forecourt Trader’s yougest-ever winners, plus she was the first female solo entrant to pick up the industry’s most prestigious prize.

Following its success last year, Forecourt Live! is the centre-piece of this year’s IFFE. Susie Hawkins’ presentation will be followed by a talk from Craig Dike, winner of Convenience Store’s Top Shop of the Year 2005. Forecourt Trader editor Merril Boulton will return with her popular Working Lunch panel sessions, plus sister magazine, Convenience Store, will run panel sessions on subjects including responsible retailing and employment law. Other companies taking the Forecourt Live! stage include Big Oil, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, King Tanktechnic and Torex Retail as well as the Electrical Contractors Association and the Energy Institute.

IFFE, which is now being held on an annual basis, runs from Sunday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 22. Visitors on the Sunday can treat themselves to a free breakfast baguette courtesy of Country Choice, on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s plenty for visitors to see and do at the show. More than 50 companies will be exhibiting, including Air Serv, Atlantis International, CPL Petroleum, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, PetroTechnik, Tokheim and Torex Retail.
