Tokheim's new deal

Tokheim has been selected as a global supplier of fuel dispensers to Shell. The implementation of the agreement, which will run until 2016, has already started in Benelux, Germany, Italy and the UK. Tokheim also recently entered into an agreement with Shell as one of its global suppliers in retail automation for the Global Site Systems Programme. Caroline Taussig, Shell Retail Engineering general manager, said: "Tokheim has worked effectively with Shell Retail over many years. We are delighted that the outcome of the global dispensers tender will further leverage this relationship, which now covers the supply of dispensers, site automation and fuels system maintenance in many countries."

New software system

OPW Fuel Management Systems has introduced Phoenix SQL fuel management software a programme that operates over a server with content delivered to the user's browser.

Slim helps drive sales

The ISA Slim is a new compact multi-deck chilled cabinet from ISA (UK). It has been designed to drive sales by ensuring that products can be seen clearly. The side panels are see-through but mirrored versions are also available. There is an illuminated, front display panel at the top of the unit which can be customised.

Red Bull launches first ever on-pack promotion

Red Bull is running its first-ever on-pack promotion, giving consumers the chance to get tickets to a new event the Red Bull Speed Jam, which will take place in Cardiff on September 3. From this month, all 250ml cans of the energy drink will feature a Red Bull Speed Jam flash and a unique code number on the ringpull. This can be used to play the Red Bull Kart Fighter game either online or on an iPhone. Consumers then race and compete in challenges to gain tickets to the Speed Jam.

B&H White slides in

Benson & Hedges (B&H) White is a new brand from JTI designed to provide retailers with a "valuable profit opportunity in the sub-premium sector".

Mints on the move

The latest line from Trebor is the Trebor Mint Travel Pack pot which holds 50 Softmints. Designed to give consumers easy access to mints, the product is ideal for consumers on long journeys who like to enjoy several mints during their trip. Packs feature a car with the message "Share some mintiness".

Café Creme grows

The Scandinavian Tobacco Group UK (STG) has launched the Café Creme Grande range of small cigars. Described by the company as "the biggest innovation in small cigars for decades", Café Creme Grandes are smooth-tasting cigars that come in a distinctive blue crush-proof tin of five. Recommended retail price is £4.24. Outer size is 5x5 to minimise cash outlay for retailers.

Mayfair special packs

TI has unveiled limited-edition Mayfair packs, launched this month and available for four weeks. The packs reflect the quality of the mid-price brand through the use of a metallic silver band around the top. The design is available on Mayfair king-size and smooth king-size in 10s and 20s, in standard and price-marked packs. Jeremy Blackburn, head of communications at JTI, says: "These limited-edition packs will help retailers cash in on the growing success of the Mayfair brand while continuing to provide adult smokers with quality at an affordable price."

New Powerade Energy is being backed by TV, outdoor and digital activity as well as sampling all using the strapline 'For the everyday race'.

Hunt for Future Flames

Coca-Cola is running an on-pack promotion where consumers can nominate young people to carry the Olympic flame at the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. Called Future Flame, the activity is featured on Coca-Cola, Diet Coke and Coke Zero on 330ml cans, 500ml and 2ltr bottles and multipacks. Consumers are asked to nominate young people who have done something positive in their community.

Chipping away

Dip Desperado is a new promotion from Doritos aimed at encouraging consumers to buy dips for their chips. On-pack messaging invites them to play the Dip Desperado game on Facebook or via an app if they have a smartphone.

Game on for Cadbury

TV2 is commissioning a UK version of international game show Minute to Win in association with Cadbury Spots v Stripes.

New Walkers Crinkles has achieved sales of £12m in just eight weeks (Nielsen). The crisps come in simply sea salted, Cheddar & onion and salt & malt vinegar varieties.

Hovis Homebake is a new range of part-baked loaves and rolls, launching in September. Products include a white bloomer, granary bloomer and pack of four white rolls.

Farmers slims down

Heinz is relaunching its Farmers' Market range of soups with the current 515g can replaced by a slimmer 400g format. New varieties include three bean & red pepper and seven vegetable.
