Supermarkets announce cuts in fuel prices

30 October, 2013

The big four supermarkets have all cut their fuel prices from today.

Sainsbury’s reported a 3ppl fuel price cut across its 286 forecourts, and said it was the cheapest price at its pumps for two and a half years.

Chris Biggs, Sainsbury’s fuel buyer, said: “We are always looking at ways to help our customers save money, especially in the run-up to Christmas. We know that fuel is a big part of the weekly budget for many households so we hope this cut will be welcomed by drivers across Britain.”

Asda announced that it was setting a new national ceiling on its prices of 126.7ppl for unleaded petrol and 133.7ppl for diesel, and said it was its lowest price this year.

Tesco said it was reducing petrol and diesel by up to 2ppl and Morrisons said it was reducing prices by 2ppl on the majority of its forecourts.
