Tokheim has launched a new version of its Tokheim Eye forecourt monitoring/control system for unmanned sites.

It allows service station owners and operators to comply with legislation and serve petrol, diesel and LPG customers during out-of-hours periods, boosting their revenue.

The Tokheim Eye Unmanned Forecourt system enables remote surveillance and control of sites, so that a service station owner or remote control room operator is alerted whenever a vehicle arrives, and they can monitor activities and take complete control throughout the refuelling process.

Great Gas Petroleum (Ireland) is already working with Tokheim at a number of its sites, following a change in Irish law in 2010 allowing the dispensing of petrol as well as diesel at unmanned service stations.

Trevor Wallace, managing director of national security systems installer Metro Security, which is Tokheim's UK partner for the full range of Tokheim Eye systems, said: "The Tokheim Eye unmanned solution is cost-effective and therefore suitable for low-volume service stations, which can now benefit from added-value fuel sales 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Using this system, dedicated unmanned fuel-only forecourts are now viable too. Eliminating the need for staff to be on-site means that lower turnover sites will be able to trade profitably."
