New traffic after Gulf switch
Published:  05 August, 2010

Lancashire retailers Paul and Elaine Wellings have seen new traffic at their site since switching their fuel brand to

Gulf.

The husband and wife team said the move had already proved a success at Houghton’s Filling Station in Garstang, Preston, which they have run for 15 years. Their decision to change was part of a long-term plan to develop and expand Houghton’s to protect and strengthen their investment.

Paul said: "The site looks a lot smarter now with the Gulf imagery and the strength of the brand is encouraging new traffic to the site. We had been buying independently and the decision to link up with Gulf has already started to reap rewards.

"The garden centre also works well alongside the filling station; our customers often enjoy the good flower displays we have on show."

Gulf’s Card Services – which allows dealers to process all standard bank, charge and fuel bunkering cards as well as the Gulf Fuel Card – was also due to be added to the site, aimed at boosting sales from local businesses and increasing customer loyalty and trade.
