BP has launched the first small-format version of its Wild Bean Café (WBC) to the UK. The specially tailored version of BP's successful food-to-go offer, which includes hot and cold drinks and snacks as well as pastries and cakes, opened at Boongate Service Station in Peterborough on May 7.
BP's UK convenience retail director Karen Hubbard said: "We acknowledged the standard BP Connect franchise offer is not possible without large scale works for many potential franchisees."We were keen to adapt the Connect offer to make it more widely available and have been developing small format since late last year. Small format offers great opportunities for our dealer partners to grow their food-to-go offer with the award-winning Wild Bean Café as well as increase sales and margins with a smaller shop Connect offer."It's great to bring the offer to the UK, and we are delighted to be opening the first in Peterborough."The Wild Bean format opened at Boongate, on St John's Street, as the site became a BP franchise. Site owner Nandan Kumar said: "It gives us great pride in launching the first small format WBC in the UK. After closely watching the progress the Connect stores have made, we are delighted to make the franchise conversion with BP."WBC is also in 170 larger BP Connect forecourts and a number of BP Connect/Wild Bean Café franchise sites in England and Scotland.
