Armed robbery at Esso site in Henley

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at the weekend at the Esso forecourt on Reading Road, Henley.

At around 4.45am on Saturday December 10, a man armed with an air rifle and a hammer entered the store, threatened the member of staff on duty, took cash from the till and left. No one was injured during the robbery.

The offender is described as a white man, over six feet tall and of slim build. He was wearing a navy blue balaclava and dark clothing.

An appeal for information has gone up on the Thames Valley Police website. Investigating officer Det Insp Paul Powell of local CID based at Abingdon Police Station, said: “We are appealing for anyone with information about this robbery to come forward. If you recognise the description of the offenders or have any information please contact me via the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number 101. If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
