Adler & Allan laboratory gains UKAS accreditation

18 March, 2016

Adler & Allan's dedicated fuel polishing and testing laboratory, located in Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, has gained UKAS accreditation, demonstrating its technical competence and integrity in the fields of evaluating and maintaining fuel quality.

One of only a handful of fuel testing facilities in the UK to meet the standards of UKAS, the laboratory covers all petroleum refined fuels, diesel, gas oil and kerosene. In addition to test methods covered by its UKAS accreditation, fuel samples are tested to ASTM and EN ISO standards.

Alan Scrafton, head of marketing for Adler & Allan, said: “Gaining UKAS accreditation is a great achievement. As a company, Adler & Allan aims to be leaders in a given field, using the latest technologies and carrying out services at the highest level. The UKAS mark of approval helps demonstrate this commitment in what has become an increasingly important service to our customers.”

He added that EU Directives on bio-fuels and EU Standards for bio-diesel have increased the need for more frequent and higher standards of fuel maintenance. All fuel systems are vulnerable to contamination by water, where a bio-fuel is used. This water can cause microbes to grow causing damaging sludge, and contaminated fuel is harmful to tank interiors, the pipework leading to tanks, filters and seals.
